Supervision
The style of supervision provided depends upon the type of project and the individual student. New research students give a short presentation to the School on their research project, highlighting the aims, objectives, methodology, data acquired, interpretations and future research plans. Students also present seminars to the School at a more advanced stage in their research and are encouraged to present their results at the annual Irish Geological Research Meeting and at other conferences. The individual supervision provided by the research supervisor generally involves daily to weekly informal meetings, together with the requirement for the student to write periodic progress reports. Academic supervisors and technical staff are always willing to provide support and guidance should students encounter any difficulties in their research.
