Research

We are very proud of the internationally recognised reputation for excellence in research which the School  possesses.  This is seen in the number and quality of publications and in the levels of research funding received from a wide range of sources.   All academic staff are active researchers and all have been successful in winning research funding.  The high profile of our research is reflected in the success of grant applications to national and international agencies and in the support from industry, both within Ireland and internationally.  Research funding won by members of the School amounts to approximately one million euro per year and all members of academic staff and postdoctoral/research staff have contributed to our extensive list of publications.  In addition to the nine Academic staff, there are 15 Research Staff and over 30 postgraduate students.

Research in the School covers a broad spectrum of specialities with a seamless transition between pure and applied research.
