The Global Finance Academy (GFA)

Faculty

The faculty of the Academy comprises some thirty people of high international academic standing – by far the largest finance faculty in Ireland.  In addition, more than one hundred adjunct faculty with hands-on, current, working expertise in the financial services industry are involved in the teaching programmes of the Academy.  The Faculty based in both UCD and the Institute of Bankers will expand strongly to attract other outstanding teachers and researchers in finance over the next few years.

Distinguished Academic Director, Professor Kjell Nyborg, has been appointed to the Academy as Academic Director.  Professor Nyborg has an outstanding international reputation in research and teaching in the field of finance.

The Executive Director of the Academy is Mr John Travers.  Mr Travers was formerly Chief Economic Advisor with the Department (Ministry) of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.  He was founding CEO of Forfás (1993-2002) (the Government Policy Board for Industry, Science and Technology) and of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) 2000-2001.

The Head of Research at the Academy is Dr Tony Brabazon.  Dr. Brabazon is Head of Research in the School of Business, co-founder and co-director of the Natural Computing Research and Applications Group at UCD (see http://ncra.ucd.ie).  As well as sitting on the editorial boards of a number of journals, he is a regular reviewer for a wide range of journals  in natural computing, operations research and finance.
