Celebrating the 150th Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi at UCD

University College Dublin in conjunction with the Embassy of India hosted a special lunchtime reception on the 2nd of October in the UCD Global lounge to celebrate the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.  

 

Welcoming guests to the event, Professor Dolores O’Riordan, Vice-President for Global Engagement at UCD said “Gandhi’s message was and is powerful, and will resonate as strongly with our students and graduates today”. She went on to emphasise that the “connections between India and Ireland will influence our shared future, where graduates with a shared experience of between India and Ireland will ‘be’ the change that Gandhi spoke of.”

 

Sukhvinder Singh from the Indian Embassy and Mr. John O'Dowd, Lecturer in UCD Sutherland School of Law addressed the attendees which included UCD students and staff,  Indian Embassy staff, industry and other special invited guests.
