UMT Capital Projects Group

The objectives of the Capital Projects Group (UMT CPG) are to seek approval from UMT to initiate and oversee the major capital projects of the University and prepare capital appraisal reports.

  • To align activities with the overall objectives of the UCD Strategic and Academic Plans
  • To initiate major new projects to advance the development of the Campus subject to UMT approval
  • To implement the Guidelines for the Appraisal and Management of Capital Expenditure Proposals as issued by the Department of Finance and the HEA
  • To appoint a Project Director and Team to project manage specific developments under the direction of the Director of Buildings & Estates
  • To coordinate the funding of the major capital initiatives
  • To assess the potential for philanthropy as part of the funding package
  • To perform the role of steering committee in guiding the Project Team in its objectives
  • To agree the precise objectives and deliverables of individual projects and to sign off on final designs
  • To monitor the delivery schedules of major projects on behalf of the UMT
  • To act as an information conduit between Project Teams and the UMT
  • To assess remedial actions proposed where a project fails to meet its timetables or objectives
  • To prepare a completion report on each capital project
