TURAS is One Year Old

The meeting was hosted by three of the TURAS partners – the Verband Region, the University of Stuttgart and Helix – with the highlight being a visit to the wine museum. Stuttgart has many vineyards inside the city limits; which is unique in an urban setting. Two days of intense reporting saw presentations by 15 European cities and regions, outlining their case study areas and the challenges to resilience and sustainability that face the local communities in those areas. It was staggering to see the commonality of problems in all cities and neighbourhoods, as well as the concerted efforts being made to engage with communities to develop solutions. All work packages reported good progress and in summing up, Professor Gerrit Knapp expressed his admiration for the project and the challenges ahead.
