Titanic Heritage and Memory Conference
(07/05/2011)
The School of Planning at UCD, in partnership with the planning schools at Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Aberdeen, will be holding the fourth conference of the Irish Scottish Forum for Spatial Planning in May 2011. The forum was established in 2008 with the objective of critically examining the relationship between planning and the development of cities, towns and countryside in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland. The first three conferences explored aspects of the shaping of space and place by contemporary planning. The forthcoming conference, on the theme of heritage and place, will be held on 31 May 2011 at QUB to mark the centenary of the launch of RMS Titanic at the Harland and Wolff shipyard and will consider how the Titanic legacy might best contribute to the city of its origin.
