Research, Innovation & Engagement
GPEP is a major national and international centre for research in the areas of human and physical geography, urban and regional planning and environmental policy. The School unites, in a way that is unique in Ireland, three disciplines that are concerned with understanding and shaping the world around us. We have a strong track record and international reputation in each of the disciplinary areas and our research benefits from the manner in which approaches, techniques, knowledge and perspectives from each of the disciplines can be drawn together.
Research Facilities
GPEP offers an excellent research environment. The newest research facility in the School is the Core Scanner which was funded by a HEA grant.

GPEP offers a range of project, implementation, research and industry-focused services to support UCD researchers, students and partners.
Journals
GPEP staff play an active role in contributing to their wider disciplinary communities through membership of editorial teams of leading international peer-reviewed journals.
Research Institutes
GPEP is affiliated with a number of UCD Research Institutes which provide important networks for interdisciplinary collaboration across the university and with other institutions nationally and internationally.
