Biography:
Dr. Craig Bullock is a part-time Research Fellow in the School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy. He is currently completing four externally funded projects in UCD. The first of these, on behalf of the Environmental Protection Agency and under the management of Dr. Mark Scott, has been examining rural housing preferences and the costs and benefits of rural housing. The second (also EPA) has been reviewing peatland policy and the prospective benefits of alternative future peatland futures (www.ucd.ie/boglands). In addition, Craig is providing supervisory input to a Coford funded project on the public benefits of forestry in Ireland (with Aine Ni Dhubhain of Mr. Vincent Upton) and input to an IRCHSS project on migration in Ireland. Between 2009 and 2010 he provided assistance to the National Coordinator for Irish participation in the European Social Survey. Previous research within UCD has examined quality of life and the environment in contemporary Ireland (EPA) and the benefits of urban green space. He was formerly responsible for the coordination of the EU Greenspace Project (www.green-space.org). In addition, Craig has worked on a variety of projects over the years in both consultancy and the private sector. Relevant projects include valuation of ecosystem services, the valuation of wilderness, the impact of climate change on heritage and tourism, the value of Ireland's heritage, the economic benefits of urban design, forestry, agri-environmental policy and various environmental and social assessments. He has also undertaken socio-economic work overseas on cocoa and other tree crops. |
