Biography:
| Dr. Paula Russell is a graduate of Geography and Sociology, from Trinity College, Dublin and is a qualified planner having graduated from the Master of Regional and Urban Planning Programme (MRUP) in UCD in 1993. She completed her PhD in Regional and Urban Planning in 2002. Paula worked as a research associate and project co-ordinator in both the Services Industries Research Centre and the Environmental Institute in UCD and was an Assistant lecturer in the Department of Regional and Urban Planning in UCD before being appointed as a Lecturer in October 2001. Paula lectures at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in the following areas: History and Theory of Planning, Research Methods and the Role of Community in Planning. |
Research Interests
| Paula's main research interests are in the broad area of community and governance. A particular focus of much of her research is the interface between civil society and the policy process. Other interests include the exploration of innovative approaches to managing land use.

Teaching Interests
| Paula's teaching interests are in the history and theory of planning, planning for and with communities, and research methodology. An important component of much of Paula's teaching is the engagement of students in project based work. |
