Undergradate Programmes
Welcome to the Undergraduate section of the School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy website. Here you can learn about our Bachelor of Arts programmes which are offered as part of the overall BA programme. There are three ways in which you can study Geography and Planning and Environmental policy subjects in UCD.
BA Geography (DN500)
There are three pathways for students wishing to take Geography as part of the BA programme, as a Major, Joint Major or Minor subject. At stage 1 students may take modules up to a total of 20 credits in Geography. To progress to stage 2 in Geography, students must have successfully completed two Geography modules or 10 credits at stage 1. If you are taking Geography at Stage 2 as a major subject,
BA Planning, Geography and Environment (DN514)
This is a single Major programme. In this programme at stage 1 you take 40 of your credits or eight modules from Geography, Planning and Environmental policy. At stage 2 you must take 100 credits of Geography, Planning and Environmental policy modules. The remaining credits at both stages can be taken from within the school or elsewhere. Electives in Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy.
It is possible to take Geography modules as your elective modules if you are studying other subjects in the BA and other programmes. Elective places are available on a large number of modules.
