Undergraduate Programmes
Welcome to the Undergraduate section of the School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy website. Here you can learn about our Bachelor of Arts programmes which are offered as part of the overall BA programme. There are three ways in which you can study Geography and Planning and Environmental policy subjects in UCD.
- BA Geography
- BA Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy
- Electives in Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy
BA Geography (DN012) There are two pathways for students wishing to take Geography as part of the BA programme, as a Major subject or as a Minor subject. Where Geography is a major subject you will take 20 credits or four modules in stage 1 and 50 credits each year at stage 2. As a minor subject you take 10 credits or two geography modules at stage 1 and 40 credits each year at stage 2. This means you can combine Geography with a range of other subjects in the BA programme.
BA Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy (DN063) This is a single Major programme. In this programme in Stage 1 you take 40 of your credits or eight modules from Geography and Planning and Environmental policy modules. While at stage 2 in each year you must take 50 credits of Geography Planning and Environmental policy modules.
Electives in Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy. It is possible to take Geography modules as your elective modules if you are studying other subjects in the BA and other programmes. Elective places are available on most modules.
