Support

As a graduate student you will probably be thinking about how to make the most of your time at UCD and how to use your course as a springboard into the job you want. Whether you have a clear vision of where your career will take you, or are just beginning to look at your options, the UCD Career Development Centre (CDC) can help. For advice on any aspect of graduate job seeking, you can find information, and make an appointment with a Career & Skills Consultant via www.ucd.ie/careers .

If you're a UCD Belfield alumnus (up to two years after graduation) you can book an appointment by phone (01 716 7574) or in person. Appointments can be booked on the day of the appointment (Open at 9am). Please note that Careers Connect is now mobile friendly so users can now book appointments as well as avail of a range of services from a smartphone.

Employability

UCD remains a targeted university for employers. During 2015/16 academic year, 300+ employers participated in on-campus recruitment events and employer presentations. Thousands more advertise vacancies through the Career Development Centre website

UCD graduates have made their mark in all areas of industry, arts, engineering, science, culture, sport and public life, in Ireland and abroad. More than 50 companies are currently located at UCD and over 250 companies have funded research at UCD. Entrepreneurs at NovaUCD can avail of business support with over 290 companies and early-stage ventures based there earning over €8 million in commercialisation income.

UCD Advantage Award

The UCD Advantage Award formally recognises the skills, knowledge and experience that UCD students gain through participation in co-curricular activity, on and off campus. Through participation in the award, students’ will increase their self-awareness, self-efficacy and self-confidence and develop skills and attributes required for success in the workplace and life beyond university. Students who achieve the UCD Advantage Award will be presented with a certificate at a celebration ceremony and UCD Advantage will appear on the Diploma Supplement that they receive at graduation. Internships

A key factor in achieving your career ambitions is gaining experience through an internship. The UCD Career Development Centre hosts an Internships Fair each February. An internship is also a means of attaining a graduate position in a company - they are increasingly being used by companies as a key graduate recruitment tool. Your first port of call should be Careers Connect, our online vacancies portal. If you are a current UCD student you can use your UCD Connect login details to access this portal. If you are a UCD graduate you can register for an alumni account.

Your Alumni Network

Your UCD degree is a passport for life. Once you have graduated from UCD, you are supported throughout your life with tailored activities. Wherever you go, whatever you do, we are here to support you.

UCD Alumni Relations helps you stay connected with your class through numerous alumni activities and social networks. We provide networking opportunities with fellow alumni for professional growth and give you the chance to give back to UCD by volunteering your time as a speaker, mentor or class agent.

The UCD Alumni Awards and Events.

The UCD Alumni Awards will take place on November 10th 2017. We welcome you to nominate, celebrate and be inspired by outstanding UCD graduates. Representing the diversity of UCD, awards are presented in the following categories: Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine; Arts; Business; Engineering and Architecture; Health Sciences; Law; Science; Social Science; Sport and Research, Innovation and Impact.
