If you’re unemployed, a college graduate, previously self employed, in receipt of social welfare benefits*, you could qualify for the following courses at UCD:

Under the ‘Springboard’ programme, you’ll pay no fees and can continue to receive welfare benefits while gaining in-demand skills like Java programming, Cloud Computing, organic chemistry, bioprocessing or innovation and entrepreneurship. On these flexible, part-time progammes, you can choose from a list of modules you need to suit your career plans and circumstances.
So whether you’re upskilling or moving into a brand new area, these funded programmes could help you return to employment and progress your career in areas of real future potential. 

University/Graduate Certificate in Information & Communications Technology

The University/Graduate Certificate in Information & Communications Technology offers options for IT graduates wishing to fill gaps in their knowledge, and for non-IT graduates wishing to move into the area. Students will work with an academic advisor to devise their own programme to meet their career plans. Modules on offer include highly-sought-after Java programming, Cloud Computing and mobile application development.

Graduate Certificate in Biopharmaceutical and Pharmachemical Sciences

The Graduate Certificate in Biopharmaceutical and Pharmachemical Sciences is for graduates from Life Science, Chemistry or Engineering who wish to upskill to enhance their opportunities in the growing Biopharmaceutical and Pharmachemical sectors. Working with an academic advisor to devise their programme to meet their career plans, students can choose from subjects including chemistry, stem cell research, drug development, bioinformatics, regulatory affairs or bioprocessing.

University Certificate in Synthetic Organic Chemistry

The ability to construct molecules based on carbon underpins many key industries.  The University Certificate in Synthetic Organic Chemistry in UCD is intended for graduates of the physical/life sciences and chemical engineering who would like to add to their basic undergraduate knowledge of organic chemistry. Applications will also be welcomed from students possessing a level 7 qualification in chemistry, or a joint award including at least 50% chemistry content. Additionally, efforts will be made to take into account any experiential learning in order to accommodate students with work-related knowledge and skills.

Post Graduate Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The Graduate Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship provides participants with sought-after skills in the areas of creative thinking, innovation, design thinking, network and team building, entrepreneurial thinking and action. The course has been designed to embrace fundamental aspects of innovation and entrepreneurship through high levels of active learning in an energetic, ambitious and supportive environment.

Making college work for your career
All ‘Springboard’ students at UCD will take the ‘Future Fit’ module which provides training in areas such as career planning, ‘soft skills’, and job-seeking techniques. Prior to commencing their course, students of the University Certificate in ICT (NFQ Level 7) will participate in a UCD ‘College Knowledge’ Springboard Induction programme to help them prepare for the course and maximize their studies.
