Gerardine Meaney is Director of the Humanities Institute, Director of the Centre for the Study of Gender, Culture and Identities and of the IRCHSS funded Graduate Research and Education Programme (GREP) in Gender, Culture and Identities at UCD. She is the author of Gender, Ireland and Cultural Change (New York and London: Routledge, 2010), Nora (Cork: Cork University Press and the Film Institute of Ireland, 2004), (Un)like Subjects: Women, Theory, Fiction (London and New York: Routledge, 1993), a co-editor of the Field Day Anthology of Irish Writing: Women's Writing and Traditions, volumes 4 and 5 (Cork: Cork University Press, 2002) and of numerous articles on gender and Irish culture, with particular emphasis on Film, Literature and Drama. She is general editor of the forthcoming Liverpool University Press series of new critical editions of Irish Women’s Writing.
Previous research projects include the Women in Modern Irish Culture Database, with Professor Maria Luddy (University of Warwick), funded by the AHRC; Women in Public and Cultural Life in Twentieth Century Ireland’ with Dr Bernadette Whelan (University of Limerick) and Professor Mary O’Dowd (Queen’s University Belfast), funded by the HEA North-South Research collaboration programme and Inventing and Reinventing the Irish Woman Project also with Dr Bernadette Whelan and Professor Mary O’Dowd funded by IRCHSS. She was the Research Project Director for the Irish Virtual Research Library and Archive (IVRLA).
