UCD Press
UCD Press is the publishing imprint of Ireland's largest university, UCD Dublin.
UCD Press publishes a diversity of academic titles reflective of excellence in contemporary international scholarship. In particular, UCD is a market leader in research relating to historic and contemporary Ireland and is committed to enhacing further its dynamic profile in this area.
The Press is located in Newman House on St. Stephen's Green, the building in which the Catholic University of Ireland (later to become University College Dublin) opened in 1854 with the Reverend, subsequently Cardinal, John Henry Newman as its first Rector. The building is also associated with George Manley Hopkins, Professor of Greek, and James Joyce, perhaps UCD's most famous alumnus.
UCD Press's list to date includes many titles by Irish authors and of Irish interest, but out interests are not by any means confined to Ireland. Our list includes the Classics of Irish History, a paperback series which is noted especially for its reprints of little-known works of Irish political, social and literary history, many of which were controversial at the time of writing, and which sometimes express unfashionable or extreme views. Also included in the series are previously unpublished memoirs of particular interest as well as some more recent classics of historical writing that have become unavailable. It is not the policy of the Press at present to undertake the publication of journals.
