Students
Medical history is taught as part of undergraduate [Politics of Health Care, Sexuality and Society, Madness and Civilization, Gender Sexuality and Family] and postgraduate programmes.
A Masters Programme in Social and Cultural History of Medicine is available in the School of History and Archives at UCD. Students are eligible for nomination for a Wellcome Trust Masters Quota Award.
There is also a lively cohort of PhD students. At present Fiachra Byrne [Psychiatry and Psychiatric Care in Ireland in 20th Century Ireland] and Anne MacLellan [Dr Dorothy Price and the eradication of TB in Ireland] are students attached to the Centre in UCD. Elizabeth Lake [The history of medical communication/the book early nineteenth century Ireland] is attached to the Centre in UU.
All members of staff associated with the Centre welcome enquiries from students wishing to enrol in a PhD programme.
