Research Culture

UCD School of History and Archives is committed to fostering a vibrant research community among staff and graduate students. We promote rigorous historical approaches within an environment which recognises the potentials for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary study. We emphasise both collaborative research (within UCD and with our external partners). On the other hand,  we have not lost sight of the value of cutting edge individual contributions to the field. We foster academic networks and knowledge transfer through our research forum, our academic centres and through our commitment to the formation of the next generation of scholars.

The Research Forum

The School's Research Forum enhances the research environment for staff and the graduate community and promotes the dissemination of the School's research by regularly hosting speakers, workshops, symposia and conferences. The current themes of the Research Forum are Identity and Conflict, Communication and Textual Culture, Religion, Ideology and Society and Health, Welfare and Public Policy. All research students and staff are invited to participate in the Forum.
