Archival Traditions in Ireland
Researcher: Dr Elizabeth Mullins
This project explores the history of Irish archives and archivists. It examines how Irish people have perceived archives and the role that archives have played in Irish history. The project will examine the archival dimension of Ireland’s manuscript tradition; the role of religious archives as a storehouse of the nation’s memory; the relationship of the Irish archivist and historian; the role of archives in the postcolonial nation.
