The Evolution of the Irish States
Project Director: Dr Lindsey Earner-Byrne
The chief aim of the Evolution of the Irish States Project is to link current research and teaching more closely with the School's archives. The project will enhance the strengths of the School's archives making the School a rich and multifaceted learning environment for students. Many of the Modern Irish history option courses and seminars rely on primary material for the purposes of teaching and seminar papers. The creation of this oral archive will be of immense benefit to these programmes.
In the long term the project will increase and diversify the archive collection in modern Irish history. This asset will be integral to seminar teaching in the future at under-graduate and post-graduate level and in the Irish Studies programme. The project's outreach capacity is strong with an audio archive, an on-line product, radio broadcasts and a print publication.
