The Irish Historic Towns Atlas: Limerick

This is part of an international project on the history of towns and cities initiated by the International Commission for the History of Towns and the Irish section is based in the Royal Irish Academy. The project consists of the preparation of a reconstruction map for the town from 1840, along with facsimiles of historic maps. The text consists of two parts: an essay on the topographical and morphological development of Limerick since the ninth century and a large appendix of topographical information which provides detailed and carefully documented information under twenty-two headings. The book will be published shortly.
Funding: There has been funding for this project from a private donatino and from Limerick City Council.
