Appointment of Adjunct Staff
Overview
Adjunct staff are professional individuals whose appointment to a School/Institute/College will enhance its teaching, or research profile and contribute to the intellectual life of the University. Their appointment to UCD is subject to approval by the University Committee for Academic Appointments, Tenure and Promotions (UCAATP).
How It Works
Step 1: The Head of School/Director of Institute should discuss their proposal to nominate an individual as an 'Adjunct' with the College Principal.
Step 2: Following discussion, if the College Principal agrees to support the nomination, the Head of School/Director of Institute should forward the following documents to the College Principal:
- Copy of the nominee’s CV
- Appointment of Visiting Academic/Adjunct Staff Nomination Form
Step 3: If the College Principal approves the nomination from the Head of School/Director of Institute, they should forward the documents above to UCD HR, Promotions & Grading.
Step 4: Nominations will be considered by the University Committee for Academic Appointments, Tenure and Promotions (UCAATP).
Step 5: Following the UCAATP meeting the College Principal and Head of School will be informed in writing of the recommendation of the UCAATP. The recommendation will be forwrded to the Governing Authority for approval and to the Academic Council for noting. Following the Governing Authority meeting UCD HR, Promotion & Grading will issue the nominee with a letter of appointment.
