Job Families Framework for Professional & Administrative Roles

As you know we have been working on the UCD Job Families Framework for Professional and Administrative roles as part of the ‘Developing Our Talent’ strand of the UCD HR strategy.

One of the many benefits of this Job Families Framework is the ability to provide a Career & Development Planning Tool giving visibility of the range of roles and potential career paths across UCD and providing clearer and consistent description of competencies required for different roles, to help plan your development and career.

How did we get here?

There are circa 1400 Professional and Administrative Staff in UCD with just over 500 role titles.  Over the past year teams from around the University, led by the Project Team in HR, have been working together to create a simple framework, identifying 9 Job Families into which we can group roles.

As part of this Framework, we have been examining our Professional and Administrative roles, based on Job Titles, and where necessary current Job Descriptions, to map roles to the most relevant Job Family. This will already have been communicated directly to you from

It’s important to note that the introduction of Job Families won’t affect anything about your current contract, any of your terms and conditions, reporting structure or where you’re based.
