Professional Qualifications / Fees


Staff may apply for financial assistance to pursue further relevant study in UCD where the programme is deemed by the Head of School/ Unit to be beneficial to the overall professional development of the individual in the context of employment within UCD, preferably identified and agreed through the Performance for Growth process.

Staff Fee Concessions


Fee concessions are granted to staff of University College Dublin (UCD), based on the applicant meeting the criteria for qualification and being of benefit to the overall professional development of the applicant, in agreement with their Head of School/Unit.


Concessions may be granted to applicants who satisfy the criteria set out in the policy, in order to undertake relevant programmes of study, under the following headings: A) staff members who are currently employed and who have completed a minimum of three years’ employment with UCD; B) staff members who held permanent full-time appointments on 30 September 1992. Conference Allowance entitlements

The purpose of the Conference Allowance is to allow employees to attend relevant conferences as part of their professional development and to assist in building sustainable networks in the interests of the University.

The following are entitled to claim a Conference Allowance:

1. All faculty from Lecturer/Assistant Professor to Full Professor.

2. All administrative staff of Grade A02 and above.

3. Part-time or temporary employees at the levels above are entitled to claim a conference allowance on a pro-rata basis.

Funded staff are not entitled to claim Conference Allowance, but may be awarded an equivalent allowance from the relevant fund. The entitlement to a conference allowance is detailed on an individual's employment contract. Please refer to the Conference Allowance Policy and discuss with your Head of School/Unit.
