BENEFITS - Travel The University is very accessible to commuters, and there are a number of options and discounts available to UCD faculty and staff for commuting to work. The various options are outlined below and more detailed information can be found here.
 

Cycle to Work Scheme

UCD offers a “Cycle to Work Scheme” to faculty and staff to encourage more people to cycle to work. The scheme allows faculty and staff to purchase a bicycle and associated equipment tax free up to the value of €1,000 and is open to all on permanent, indefinite duration and fixed term contracts.

Public Transport

UCD is easily accessible by public transport, namely Dublin Bus, Luas and Dart

Commuter Tickets

UCD offers commuter tickets to faculty and staff in the form of the Travel Pass Scheme and is on offer all year round. This tax effective scheme allows for the purchase of annual bus, rail and luas tickets through UCD and a saving of up to 52% of travel costs. Three and six month tickets are also available from Private Coach providers. The University bears the full upfront cost of the travel ticket(s) and faculty and staff pay back through salary deduction.

GoCar

GoCar, Ireland’s car sharing initiative, has created a new GoBase on the UCD Belfield campus. It consists of two Ford Fiesta GoCity Cars, available to  students, faculty and staff, and a third reserved GoCar Base for visiting GoCars wishing to park. It offers faculty, staff and students an alternative green travel option to augment existing travel infrastructure in and around the campus, as well as free parking in Dublin City Council pay and display spaces.

UCD - Dart Shuttle

A shuttle bus service is now in operation that connects UCD to the Sydney Parade DART station, between the hours of 8am to 10am, and from 4pm to 6pm.This service operates Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays. There is a charge of €1 per trip, payable to driver.
