Overview

Listings of all current vacancies can be viewed and applied for via our online job application system. Current UCD staff must access the job application system via Employee Self Service (ESS) in order to see both internal and external vacancies. External visitors are welcome to view and apply for vacancies on our online job application system.

The job application process is short & simple, and is the first step in the overall recruitment process. When completing your online job application you will be required to complete a short online application form and attach your CV, Cover Letter and other supporting documentation where appropriate.

UCD Staff Job Applicants

Step 1: Click on the above button and login to ESS. If you are experiencing difficulties with your login please consult the ESS information page.

Step 2: Go to 'My e-Recruitment Self Service' to view both internal and external vacancies currently advertised.

Step 3: Select a job from the list for more information and for application details.

Step 4: Click 'Apply for Job' and complete the application form, attaching the required documents and following on-screen instructions. Note some sections of the application form will be pre-populated for you with data from the UCD HR system.

Step 5: You can click 'Save for Later' or if finished, click 'Apply'. You will receive email notification of your application once submitted.

External Job Applicants

Step 1: Click on the above button to go to the UCD Online Job Application System.

Step 2: If you have used the system before or have already registered for an account click 'Login'. If not, click 'Register' to create an account.

Step 3: Search by category, key words, reference number or ‘Search All’

Step 4: Click 'Apply for Job' and complete the application form attaching the required documents and following on-screen instructions.

Step 5: You can click 'Save for Later' or if finished, click 'Apply'. You will receive email notification of your application once submitted.

Why is the application process different for UCD Staff?

The application process and application form for all applicants is exactly the same. UCD staff apply via ESS so as to link their job application to their details in the HR system. In addition some UCD vacancies are open only to applications from UCD staff or 'internal applicants'. These vacancies are listed and can be applied for only via ESS.

I am from outside the EU, can I apply for a job?

If you are a non EU/ EEA citizen applying for a position, please refer to the HR Visa & Work Permit Page to find out if you are eligible to apply for a visa or work permit. If your application is found to be ineligible, a member of the HR Recruitment team will return your application to you.

I have applied for position, how long will it be before I know if I am shortlisted for interview?

This depends on a number of elements e.g. how soon the board can convene to review applications or the number of applications received. HR will contact you as soon as we have received confirmation from the board of assessors (interviewers for the post).

I have submitted an application to UCD, will I be contacted by phone, email or post regarding the outcome?

The HR Administrator will call you to advise you of the proposed interview date and confirm interview details by email. If you are not shortlisted, an email will be issued to the email address provided on your application form.

I was informed of a vacancy by word of mouth, but cannot see it on the HR Vacancy page?
If a vacancy is not listed on the search page, this maybe due to one of two reasons:
- The vacancy has closed and will therefore automatically be removed from the listings.
- The vacancy is advertised as ‘internal only’, therefore will only appear when searching through UCD Employee Self Service (ESS).
