UCD HR Enhancing Resourcing

 UCD HR Enhancing Resourcing Project - Phase 1 commences 15th August 2016

As part of a broader review, UCD HR Resourcing (formally Recruitment) have been working with the UCD Agile Office over the past 5 months on a process improvement project titled “UCD HR Enhancing Resourcing” looking at the experiences of those seeking to resource staff to their School or Units and candidates applying for posts at UCD.

The project is part of UCD HR's commitment to Service Excellence and Continuous Improvement and forms a key part of the HR strategy to Transform Service & Partnership.

The project has looked at all aspects of the resourcing process and has identified actions which will create significant efficiencies in the process which will in turn improve both our service and the overall experience to our customers, hiring managers and candidates.

The implementation of these actions is set out over 3 phases and with effect from Monday 15th August 2016. Therefore, we will be operating the changes identified in the Phase 1 of the project including:

For Hiring Managers:

  • Simplification of the shortlisting and interview packs and a choice of formats for the Hiring Managers to use
  • Streamlining the process to return shortlisting and interview decisions to UCD HR Resourcing Team

For Candidates:

  • Enhanced support to candidates including the provision of more information on accessing UCD Campus on the interview day and clearer communications to successful candidates
  • UCD HR Resourcing are working with our technical support to implement new functionality which will provide automatic emails updates throughout the hiring process per vacancy to all applicants

For all Customers:

  • Changes to the UCD HR webpage (Resourcing section) to provide clearer access  to contact information of the Resourcing Team and to enhance visibility through the UCD eResourcing System (Vacancy Listing) 

The proposed changes were identified through an analysis of our process followed by a series of workshops and consultation meetings with key stakeholders. We also conducted a survey of both Hiring Managers and Candidates.

The Phases 2 and 3 will involve greater levels of consultation and discussion and we will continue to work closely with schools and units in implementing these further actions. We will be holding a further series of workshops and consultation groups to gather feedback and we greatly appreciate your participation in these activities.

We are continuously seeking ways in which we can improve our services and we are committed to listening to the University community in order to ensure we are delivering a service that meets the needs.

UCD Agile (www.ucd.ie/agile) is supporting UCD HR with this project and this has been one of their "pathfinder" projects. We will continue to provide further updates as this project progresses through the later phases and as part of a broader communication addressing changes to the UCD HR Strategy in support of the UCD's 2015-2020 strategy.
