Professor of Sociology at University of East London and emeritus Professor of Sociology and Social Justice at the University of Roehampton. Her main academic writings have explored different forms of racism, diaspora and hybridity, multiculturalism, gender and migration, labour market disadvantages and class position.
Following a reflection by Prof Anthias on how the notions of intersectionality and translocational positionality have evolved in the contexts of her work on migration, students will have an opportunity to explore the use of these concepts in their own research and discuss the challenges in formulating and carrying out research in these areas.

Doctoral, post-doctoral and advanced master’s students welcome. Readings will be circulated in advance of the workshop
