HI Call for Research Projects 2017-2020

**THIS CALL HAS NOW CLOSED - NEXT CALL TO OPEN SEPTEMBER 2017**

The UCD Humanities Institute invites applications for five new Research Projects which will be hosted and supported by the Humanities Institute in the period from 2017-2020.

These awards, up to €5,000 in value and tenable for 36 months, are provided to cover the costs arising from a defined interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary research project. The Institute will also provide its facilities to support the activities of each HI Research Project.

Humanities Institute Research Project funding aims to:

  • facilitate the work of small networks of scholars;
  • encourage pilot studies and speculative research;
  • encourage trans- and interdisciplinary research;
  • nurture research capability by supporting early and mid-career scholars who have limited access to other funds;
  • offer an alternative research funding route not covered by other funding bodies.

Eligibility:

All registered HI members are eligible to apply. While the Principal Investigator must be a member of the Humanities Institute, co-applicants can come from any academic domain within the university and may include postdoctoral fellows and doctoral researchers. Collaboration with national and international partners is possible.

Selection Criteria:

A panel of assessors will evaluate the proposal on the basis of its academic merit, taking into account:

  • the PI’s track record relative to their relevant career stage;
  • the originality and intellectual coherence of the proposal;
  • the plan of activities, including partnerships;
  • the project’s inter- and transdisciplinary potential;
  • public engagement activities;
  • contribution to the Humanities Institute.

Timeline:

Call for applications: 14 November 2016

Deadline: 1 February 2017
