Welcome to the College of Human Sciences. The College, with over 200 staff and almost 4,500 students, is one of the largest and most dynamic in UCD. It consists of ten Schools that bring together the social sciences, a range of interdisciplinary areas, and other disciplines including psychology, geography and philosophy. The Schools offer a wide range of undergraduate and taught masters programmes in these fields and are committed to disciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching and research.

The College is exceptionally research active, and its staff publish extensively in leading academic journals and in books, and have been responsible for a great deal of cutting-edge research. The College has links to numerous universities and research institutes in Europe and the wider world. Within UCD, it is aligned with the Geary Institute, one of Ireland’s leading social science institutes. Academics in Human Sciences have received research awards from the Irish Council (IRC), the Royal Irish Academy (RIA), North-South Bodies and public bodies in Ireland and Europe.

I invite you to visit our Schools in the College or through their websites. This will highlight for you the richness of the College’s teaching programmes, the strength and diversity of its research, and its commitment to placing the university in a leading position in Irish society. The College offers a welcoming and supportive environment to our students. UCD’s Horizons programme offers interesting and innovative pathways for undergraduate students in Human Sciences.
