Teaching and Learning
Introduction:
The College of Human Sciences provides students with a dynamic and innovative educational environment at both undergraduate and graduate levels. In recent years, academics in the College of Human Sciences have been institutionally, nationally and internationally recognized as leading innovators in teaching and learning. Their work has contributed to the fostering of high-quality learning opportunities for students at University level and they have also made significant contributions to international pedagogic scholarship.
Current teaching and learning projects within the College include the enhancement of module quality across the range of programmes on offer from Schools in our College, the improvement of first year engagement and the development of our students as scholars through the embedding of teaching-research linkages within our range of activities. Schools are also involved in developing blended learning methodologies for their students and using effective small-group, enquiry-based teaching approaches.
The College Teaching and Learning Committee, chaired by the Vice Principal for Teaching and Learning, has been instrumental in the delivery of the UCD Horizons programme to students in both the BA and BSocSc programmes. A representative from each School together with nominees from the Programme Office, University Fellows, Library and Student Advisory Service work together on this Committee to adopt a fully integrated approach to the development of an excellent teaching and learning experience for all our students.
