Annual International Funds Seminar 2008

No one involved in the financial services industry in Ireland whether directly, or as a professional adviser, needs to be reminded of the importance of the IFSC to the Irish economy.
However, if the IFSC is to develop further and to retain its position in the global industry, the imagination and energy which characterised its early development needs to be maintained.
At this seminar, a panel of distinguished participants in the sector will explore the opportunities and challenges which require to be addressed if forward momentum is to be realised.
The seminar will focus on issues such as UCITS IV, the controversial proposal to introduce a management company passport, and its implications for Irish domiciled funds in light of the CESR Advice to the EC Commission, and the opportunities in marketing hedge funds and funds of funds outside the EU area.

Given the unavoidable background of global financial turmoil from which the industry in Ireland is not insulated, the seminar will conclude with a panel discussion on the present and likely future impact of this unprecedented market turbulence on the funds sector in Ireland.
