ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (8.00 pm)
This AGM, the 35th of the ICCS, gives the membership a say in the running of our society,
and an opportunity to become involved in its committee through nomination and election.
All members should have received full details by post, and are urged to attend.
This year again there is a
"Reminiscences of the Early Days of the ICCS" by Dell Lundy.
This year's event after the AGM is indeed a very special one. Dell Lundy is one of the founding members
of the ICCS, and has been a mainstay of the Society for all of its existence.
She has a wealth of knowledge of its early days, and her account
of how it all started and progressed should make this 35th Anniversary meeting a completely fascinating one.
There will be the customary tea and biscuits afterwards.
SUMMER OUTING
This year's outing is a visit to Kilmacurragh Arboretum, Kilbride, Co. Wicklow,
(now managed by the National Botanic Gardens) with its magnificent collection
of trees from many countries, including China. We will meet
(in the Guides' Office by the Car Park) at 11.45am, which should enable us
to start the guided tour at 12 noon.
Seamus O'Brien, who gave us a talk some years ago on the collection of Augustine Henry,
is hoping to take us round. Many of the plants collected by Henry will be seen on our tour!
As there is no restaurant at the arboretum, if the weather is fine we could take a picnic,
and if not, we will adjourn to a local pub or the Avoca Restaurant in Ashford
which serves a very good variety of food, from a snack to a full meal. There is no charge for the tour.
If you would like to come on this outing, and we hope you will, it would be helpful
if you would inform the Hon. Secretary, Denis Mullen, 130 Mount Merrion Avenue,
Blackrock Co. Dublin, phone 086 8117258, or Email
More information, directions on how to get there, and a map link, can be found at
Remember: Saturday 29th May, in the Guides' Office of Kilmacurragh Arboretum at 11.45am.
