Our Days with the President

A talk by Gerard Corcoran and Margaret Kiong.

We have all read in the papers about the recent visit to China of President Mary McAleese, accompanied by a large delegation. The coverage was somewhat patchy, and occasionally sensational. Tonight, Margaret Kiong Corcoran and Gerry Corcoran, members of that delegation, will give us an idea of what the visit was really like, and what went on. This will be a joint presentation (with plenty of pictures) by two people who are as much at home in Asia as in Europe.

Chinese Export Fans in the CBL

A talk by Clare Pollard

Dr Clare Pollard is Curator of the East Asian Collections at the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin; author of "'Master Potter of Meiji Japan' Mazuku Kozan (1842 - 1916) and his Workshop", and writer on ceramics. Tonight she will be talking to us about an important collection of 19th century Chinese fans acquired by the Library.
