About

The School of Information and Communication Studies – exploring how people and technology interact and influence each other in the 21st Century.

About The School

Information plays a key role in all aspects of life, including education, health, business, government, leisure, and civic engagement. Digitisation continues to transform our societies, raising practical and ethical questions about the effects of technology and digital systems on people’s lives and wellbeing. Knowing how to find, create, manage, share, evaluate, and use digital information is more relevant than ever before. The UCD School of Information and Communication Studies is the only university in Ireland to provide undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Information and Communication Studies, Library and Information Studies, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Policy, and Media and Communication Studies.

The School is an active member of (opens in a new window)the ‌iSchools logo(opens in a new window)‌ consortium - a global collection of Information Schools dedicated to advancing the information field and sharing a fundamental interest in the relationships between information, people, and technology.
