Fáilte romhat chuig ár suíomh idirlín. Scoil ildisciplíneach bheoga í an scoil seo againne, scoil ina bhfuil réimse tarraingteach ábhar staidéir. Tá réimse fairsing cúrsaí Nua-Ghaeilge againn, ó chúrsaí do thosaitheoirí agus do mhic léinn ócáidiúla ar aghaidh chuig na cúrsaí céime agus na hiarchéimeanna is airde a dhéantar trí mheán an taighde. Déantar cúram de chultúr na Gaeilge ina chomhthéacsanna náisiúnta agus idirnáisiúnta, ó thús a ré go dtí an lá atá inniu ann. Is leithne an Léann Ceilteach ná an Nua-Ghaeilge, agus chuige sin, is féidir Sean-Ghaeilge, Breatnais agus Gaeilge na hAlban a fhoghlaim uainn. Tá cláir shuntasacha againn i Sibhialtacht na gCeilteach. Tá saibhreas cultúrtha an Bhéaloidis ar fáil sna modúil ar Bhéaloideas Éireann, agus tá sé de phribhléid againn go bhfuil ollbhailiúnchán náisiúnta an Bhéaloidis lonnaithe sa scoil. Ábhar ann féin í an Teangeolaíocht, a thugann tuiscint dhomhain ar nádúr na teanga daonna. Tá lárionad feabhais na Gaeilge sa scoil, Lárionad de Bhaldraithe, ag cur le teagasc agus taighde na teanga le blianta beaga anuas.

Tá an taighde agus an teagaisc chun tosaigh sa scoil. Tá cumas agus saineolas ag baill na Scoile sa teanga agus sa litríocht a ghabhann le gach tréimhse de chuid na Gaeilge agus i mBéaloideas Éireann, agus suitear iad seo laistigh de chomhthéacs leathan an Léinn Cheiltigh agus na hanailíse ginearálta teangeolaíche. Cuireann an scoil tábhacht ar leith leis an gcúram a dhéantar de mhic léinn. Féachann sí le dúshlán intleachtúil a chur rompu i dtimpeallacht thacúil foghlama. Aithníonn baill na Scoile go mbíonn riachtanais na mac léinn ag athrú agus fáiltítear i gcónaí roimh dheiseanna a spreagann cur chuige nua idir disciplíní na Scoile.

Tá céad fáilte romhat.

Welcome to our website. This is a vibrant multi-disciplinary school, which offers an attractive range of study options. We provide a full spectrum of Modern Irish language modules to suit all levels of learner. Our students range from postgraduates taking advanced research degrees, through taught postgraduates and undergraduates, to occasional students and absolute beginners. We approach Irish language culture in in its national and international contexts, from earliest times to the present. Celtic Studies is broader than Modern Irish and for that reason we are proud to teach Early Irish, Welsh and Scottish Gaelic. We also have major offerings in Celtic Civilisation. The cultural richness of Folklore is analysed and handed on through our modules on Irish Folklore; we are privileged to hold the extraordinary National Folklore Collection in the School. Linguistics, which provides an in-depth understanding of a range of aspects of human language is central to the School. The de Bhaldraithe centre of excellence for the Irish Language is an important recent development for teaching and research in Irish.

Research and teaching are the School’s priorities. Its members have established strengths and expertise in the language and literature of all periods of the Irish language and in Irish Folklore, within the wider context of Celtic Studies and general linguistic analysis. The School attaches particular importance to the attention paid to individual students, and provides them with an intellectually challenging environment, combined with individualised support, for their period of study. It recognises the changing needs of students and always welcomes opportunities that inspire fresh approaches across its disciplines.

We would be delighted to hear from you.
