MLitt in Irish Folklore
Who is the MLitt for?
The MLitt is best suited for students who have completed a BA or an MA (or equivalent) in Folklore and want to explore a specific topic in more detail either for professional reasons or in order to prepare for a career in folklore.What will I have to do?
You will work in close contact with the staff member appointed as your thesis supervisor. You will define the research question(s) of your project and the activities involved with your supervisor. Throughout the project, you will regularly engage with the supervisor about the progress and challenges of your research. In addition to this, you will also attend general school and college-based classes on research methods.For further information contact:

Note:
- Students typically spend between 35 to 40hs a week on their research project over a period of about two years. The degree can also be completed part time.
- Students who are accepted for an MLitt may apply to convert to a PhD after a period of time working on their MLitt.
- Applicants have to submit a project proposal and are advised to get in contact with the member of staff who would supervise the project prior to submitting an application.

What is the PhD programme in Irish Folklore about?
The PhD in Irish Folklore is a research degree. Students with previous knowledge of Irish Folklore, typically a BA, MA, MLitt or equivalent, work independently on a research topic under the guidance of a supervisor.What will I have to do?
You will work in close contact with the staff member appointed as your thesis supervisor. You will define the research question(s) of your project and the activities involved with your supervisor. Throughout the project, you will regularly engage with the supervisor about the progress and challenges of your research . In addition to this, you will also attend general school and college-based classes on research methods. You are also encouraged to engage with the scholarly community, local and international, by attending relevant talks, seminars, conferences and summer schools where possible.
