IDDN PhD Modules
The IDDN believe that we can improve the quality of our PhD courses by using the skill base of our four partner Universities.
We have been granted funding for 4 year research PhDs so that we can include taught aspects to the PhD course. To this end we have devised 5 main "core " modules that our students will take part in. These courses are also open to visiting students from outwith the Irish Drug Delivery Network (space permitting).
Our core courses are;
Title |
Module Leader |
Credits |
Level |
Module Code |
| Integrated Pharmacology | David Brayden UCD | 2.5 | 4 | PHAR40090 |
| Drug Discovery and Delivery | Sally Ann Cryan RCSI | 2.5 | 4 | Phar40100 |
| Advanced Drug Delivery | Carsten Ehrhardt TCD | 2.5 | 4 | PHAR40110 |
| Drug Formulation | Caitriona O'Driscoll UCC |
2.5 | 4 | PHAR40120 |
Our students will also complete an Introduction to core skills - this will be held at the student's home University
Our students may also take "optional" courses, so they can strengthen their CVs by sitting taught modules also available at UCD, i.e. a business module or a language module to augment their experience. We also hope to involve our industrial partners in 2009.
The taught modules will involve lectures, workshops and assessments.
Our first module was held in April, and our feedback so far has been positive. Our Drug Design and Delivery module was held in association with Molecular Medicine Ireland and approximately 40 students attended.
