Aidan Heavey graduated from University College Dublin with a BComm.
A founding Director and shareholder of Tullow Oil plc, Aidan has played a key role in the development of Tullow Oil, from its formation in 1985, to its current international status as a leading independent oil and gas exploration and production group.
Headquartered in London, Tullow Oil employs over 1,400 people in global operations spanning over 20 countries. The company operates over 100 licences and produces from over 65 fields. The company is Africa’s leading independent oil company with over 50 licences in 15 countries.
In July 2012 Tullow Oil reported pre-tax profits of $829 million for the first six months of the year with revenues of $1.2 billion for the same period.
Tullow Oil shares are listed on the London, Irish and Ghana Stock Exchanges and the company, with a market capitalisation of over £11.5 billion, is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.
A Chartered Accountant, Aidan previously held roles in the airline and engineering sectors in Ireland. Aidan is a director of Traidlinks, an Irish-based charity established to develop and promote enterprise and diminish poverty in the developing world, particularly Africa.
He was the overall winner of the 2005 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
In November 2010, he was appointed a member of the Irish Advisory Board of the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.
