Liam FitzGerald, CEO, United Drug plc
Liam FitzGerald graduated from University College Dublin with a BComm and an MBS.
Liam is Chief Executive of United Drugs plc. United Drug provides commercialisation solutions to international healthcare companies. It specialises in supply chain, packaging, sales and marketing, medical and regulatory services.
It operates in five major international markets, and employs over 4,500 people around the globe. It is listed on the Irish and London Stock Exchanges and has a market capitalisation of €500 million.
Liam joined United Drug in 1993 and had responsibility for the Contract Distribution Outsourcing (CDO) business before being appointed to the Board in 1996. In that year, Liam also took responsibility for expansion of the Company’s CDO business into the UK market.
Furthermore, he was instrumental in the strategic decisions to move into the Contract Sales Outsourcing (CSO) business, both in Ireland and the UK, and to develop the Medical & Scientific (M&S) business division internationally. Liam was appointed CEO in 2000.
Liam started his career on the Jefferson Smurfit Group plc graduate programme. After a number of years in various divisions of the Smurfit Group, he spent a brief time in the advertising industry.
Liam is also a non-executive director of Warner Chilcott plc and C&C plc.
