UCD Earth Institute 2012 Showcase

The UCD Earth Institute 2012 Showcase - Accelerating Ireland's Green Economy through Academic-Enterprise Partnership takes place in UCD's O'Reilly Hall, on 6 November 2012.

The Irish government recently outlined (Our Sustainable Future, March 2012) its vision of how Ireland can move to a resource efficient, low-carbon and climate resilient future.

The UCD Earth Institute is responding to this challenge by working to strengthen academic-industry collaboration.

This one-day event will:

• Showcase the diverse research activity of the UCD Earth Institute
• Facilitate interaction between academic, industry and agency stakeholders
• Demonstrate the analytical equipment and research infrastructure in use across the UCD Earth Institute.

Networking sessions and one-on-one meetings will assist in identifying collaborative opportunities in the areas of:

• Earth Resources: Harnessing Ireland's energy, water and mineral resources
• Climate Change: Forecasting and risk mitigation, geohazards and flooding, stress testing future biosystems
• Smart Cities and Infrastucture: Making structures 'self-aware', extending infrastructure, sustainable planning for future communities.

There is no charge to attend this event but attendees are asked to register online.
