Entrepreneurs still vital to help established businesses grow
Entrepreneurship isn’t just for new businesses, it is essential to help established companies stay ahead of the competition.
That’s according to Ms Hanadi Jabado, Entrepreneur in Residence, Judge Business School at Cambridge University, and a global business expert who will deliver an InterTradeIreland innovation lecture at University College Cork tomorrow night and at Queen’s University Belfast next week (15 October).
The founder of businesses in several industries, including education, online retail and property, Ms Jabado works with companies around the world, showing them how to reinvigorate their business practices through nurturing entrepreneurial flair. She performs Board reviews for a city-based consultancy, helping private companies and government and voluntary organisations maximise their effectiveness.
Speaking in advance of her lecture, Ms Hanadi Jabado said, “All businesses, old and new, need to keep thinking like entrepreneurs. Established businesses can fall into a pattern of running ‘business as usual’, or even worse focusing on fire fighting problems. But continuing to innovate is key to ensuring a company grows.”
Ms Hanadi Jabado
Given the future economic potential of a strong entrepreneurial base, within both existing businesses and new enterprise start-ups, it is imperative that this trend is reversed and enterprising individuals capable of driving innovation, economic growth and employment across Ireland continue to be nurtured and supported.
This lecture is being delivered as part of the InterTradeIreland All-Island Innovation Programme, which is delivered in partnership with University College Dublin, NUI Galway, Queen’s University Belfast and University College Cork.
The programme aims to promote and encourage innovation across the island through a series of free innovation lectures, seminars and master classes, that are held throughout the year, in the participating universities, to share international best practice in areas of innovation.
Aidan Gough, Strategy and Policy Director at InterTradeIreland, said, “Nurturing the role of the entrepreneurial individual within existing businesses is vital to driving innovation which is critical to the future of both economies, North and South. Ms Jabado’s lecture will provide useful insights for businesses on the pivotal role innovation plays in securing a company’s future success.”
During her lecture, entitled Rejuvenate Your Business Through Entrepreneurship, Ms Jabado will address the benefits of nurturing entrepreneurial behaviour and the associated challenges of managing entrepreneurial employees.
Professor Peter Clinch, UCD Vice-President for Innovation said, “This InterTradeIreland innovation lecture is a great opportunity for business communities to hear directly from a world-renowned expert in the business development. The topic of this lecture is of particular importance as businesses urgently seek to find new and innovative ways to develop and grow.”
All are welcome to register to attend the lectures which are free of charge to attend in both UCC and QUB.
