To come to UCD as an exchange student, your home university must have an exchange agreement with us and you must be selected for exchange by your home university. Click here to see the list of universities (categorised by country) with which UCD has exchange agreements.
Application Instructions 2012/13
The international exchange co-ordinator in your home university will give you a link to the online application form. As well as filling in the online form, you also need to submit a transcript of university examinations taken to date. Applications should be made before 31 May (for September start) or before 1 November (for January start).
Acceptance
Acceptance will be sent via e-mail in May/June for September start and in October/November for January start. Acceptance letters and International Student Handbooks will also be posted to you.
Course Selection
UCD uses the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). A full courseload is 30 credits per semester. At undergraduate level each module is worth 5 credits and students take six modules per semester.
Exchange students in UCD can take less than six modules per semester if they have the permission of their home university but they must take a minimum of four modules per semester in order to be considered full-time.
A list of courses offered in UCD is available at:

The International Office registers students for courses and will e-mail you a course registration form after acceptance. Registration for your chosen courses depends on capacity, timetabling and prerequisites. Students have a two-week add/drop period from the first day of classes to make changes to course registration.
