I love travelling, so when the opportunity arose to study Zoology in New Zealand, naturally I jumped at the chance. I knew that I would have fantastic adventures and learn at the same time in this beautiful country on the other side of the world. During my first semester I lived in student accommodation where I was instantly made feel comfortable. Making many great friends, I hit the ground running.

We took part in extreme sports such as white-water rafting, glacier climbing and mountain climbing. Heart stopping...but totally exhilarating! New Zealand is magical...snow-capped mountains, active volcanoes, fiords, forests and lovely beaches.

The international staff was also wonderful. They organized many trips, fun evenings and parties and, as students, we never said no to the free food!

Zoology is my passion, and New Zealand is a paradise of Flower and Fauna. Much of its ecology and wildlife has remained unchanged for millions of years and we had the opportunity to study this on the many field trips we went on during the year.

New Zealand is comprised of the North Island and the South Island and there are also many small outlying islands such as Stephen's, Codfish, Stewart and Rangatira Islands. In New Zealand, you can find incredible wildlife such as fur seals, dolphins and the enormous wetas insects. Remarkably ,there are species of wildlife such as the Kakapo Parrot and Black Robbin which only exist on these small islands! One cannot forget, of course, the Kiwi bird, flightless and vulnerable.

The New Zealanders are fantastic, friendly people and the Maori culture is fascinating.

As a Zoologist in the future I will certainly go back to New Zealand to study further.
