Minimum English Language Requirements for entry to University College Dublin
1. Students whose education prior to university level has NOT BEEN CARRIED OUT THROUGH THE MEDIUM OF ENGLISH must satisfy the following English language requirements :-
- a minimum score of 600 TOEFL (250 computer based, with test of written English at 475+) or 6.5 IELTS (minimum of 6.0 in each band) is required for ALL undergraduate and postgraduate programmes - EXCEPT Postgraduate Research Programmes in Agriculture, Engineering & Science AND Postgraduate Taught Programmes in Engineering, Medicine & Science.
2. BOTH Postgraduate Research Programmes in Agriculture, Engineering & Science AND Postgraduate Taught Programmes in Engineering, Medicine & Science require :-
- a minimum score of 550 TOEFL (213 Computer Based) or 6.0 IELTS
3. Please note that some Faculties may require a higher level - it is always advisable to check the English Language Requirements of specific departments.
4. Please also note that IN ALL CASES THE TEST RESULTS MUST BE LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD.
English Language Courses in UCD
UCD has an APPLIED LANGUAGE CENTRE on the Belfield campus, which provides courses in ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE. These include Cambridge Examination Preparation Courses and short IELTS exam preparation courses and IELTS testing.
Applications for courses in the Applied Language Centre are entirely separate from applications for Undergraduate or Postgraduate courses in UCD.
