Erasmus Exchange Programme
The Erasmus programme facilitates staff and student mobility between European countries within the EU and the EEA.
We have exchange agreements with over 200 universities, covering a wide range of disciplines.
Application Process 2009/2010
To come to UCD as an Erasmus student, you must :-
- Check with your university to see if there is a bilateral agreement with us. Click here to see the list of universities (categorised by country) that UCD has bilateral agreements with.
- Be enrolled as a student in one of these universities
- Be studying a discipline for which we have an agreement with your university
- Be selected for the exchange by your university
If selected by your home university, please complete the application process as outlined below. Applications should be made before 31 May (for September 2009 start) or before 1 November (for January 2010 start) :-
1. Make an online Erasmus application to UCD here.
- Important! Please choose "First Time User Account
- Creation" and ensure that you choose "Erasmus" as your
- Application Type.
- Remember your login and PIN for future use.
2. When you complete your online application you will be sent and email which will direct you to our website. You should print out the Nomination Page and have it completed by your home university, then return to the International Office, UCD, by email (erasmus@ucd.ie), fax (+353 1 716 1165) or post (UCD International Office, Tierney Building, Belfield, Dublin 4, Ireland).
3. Go to http://www.ucd.ie/students/course_search.htm to find a list of modules offered in your particular subject area.
4. You do not need to submit a Learning Agreement yet. You will be emailed information at a later date regarding selection and registration of your courses.
Please note that WE DO NOT ACCEPT "FREE MOVERS" UNDER THE ERASMUS PROGRAMME.
English language courses:
The UCD International Office liaises with the Applied Language Centre to offer English language classes each year. Further information will be emailed during the summer.

Orientation for International Students:
An orientation programme for new international students takes place during the week before classes start in each semester (please see semester dates at: http://www.ucd.ie/registry/academicpolicy/term_dates.pdf).
Further details about the programme will be available on our website in August.
Accommodation for incoming Erasmus students:
There are a limited number of places on campus available for Erasmus students. Further information will be sent by email from the International Office.
Acceptance letters for incoming Erasmus students:
Acceptance letters will be sent by email in August. If you require one before then please contact the International Office.

We have student exchange links with a number of non-European universities. Please check below for the list of universities that UCD has agreements with. If you are a student in any of these, contact your own International Office for details.

Members include the University of Queensland, University of Auckland, McGill University, University of Virginia, University of Hong Kong and Technólogico de Monterrey.
