Undergraduate Student Scholarships

UCD GLOBAL EXCELLENSE UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS - USA

The University College Dublin Global Excellence Undergraduate Scholarships is established to continue to attract the best and brightest of undergraduate students from the United States. The financial awards range from 30% – 50% annual tuition (approximately $5,700 - $9,650 USD annually). The Scholarships are renewed annually based on acceptable academic performance as described in the terms and conditions.

The scholarships are based on an applicant's academic performance in high school (public, private, or home schooled), ACT, SAT, or IB scores, and other relevant selection criterion (see below).

Graduate Student Scholarship

The Tullow Group Scholarship Scheme

The Tullow Group Scholarship Scheme aimed at offering postgraduate programmes to degree holders in 9 countries in Africa, Asia and South America.
Citizen and legally resident of Ghana, Uganda, Gabon, Cote D’Ivoire, Kenya, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Mauritania and French Guiana Scholarships are available to those who are committed to making a contribution to their home country’s development.

UCD CSC Scholarship Scheme

University College Dublin (UCD) and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) affiliated with the Ministry of Education of China have established a unique scholarship scheme to assist Chinese students to pursue PhD programmes in UCD. Please visit the following website for more information click here.

Government of Ireland Research Scholarships in the Humanities and Social Sciences

These scholarships fund research opportunities in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Law and Business Studies. Applicants must be nationals of a European Union member states.

Government of Ireland Research Scholarships in Science, Engineering and Technology

Graduate research scholarships are available to up to 150 outstanding students in Science, Engineering and Technology, from the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET). A formal call for submissions from interested students is advertised in national newspapers in late January and funding will be available for the following academic year.

Science Foundation Ireland

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) is the national foundation for investment in scientific and engineering research.  SFI invests in academic researchers and research teams who are likely to generate new knowledge, cutting edge technologies and competitive enterprises in the three broad areas of Biotechnology; Information & Communications Technology (ICT) and Sustainable Energy & Energy Efficient Technologies (Energy).

Development Cooperation Ireland Fellowships

The Irish Department of Foreign Affairs, as part of its Development Cooperation Ireland (DCI) Programme, offers annual funding to selected nationals from certain developing countries for post-graduate academic programmes in Irish third level institutions.

ICOS Irish Council for Overseas Students

ICOS is an independent organisation advocating for the rights of all international students in Ireland. They also provides information on scholarships and fellowships.

The Irish Fulbright Commission (for students from the USA)

The Fulbright Program was established in Ireland in 1957 to provide scholarships to Irish citizens to lecture, research or study in the United States and for the US citizens to lecture, research or study in Ireland.  The primary function of the Fulbright Commission in Ireland is to administer the programme.

Financial Aid for Canadian Citizens

Canadian Student Loan Program

Students of UCD who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents may be eligible for loans funded by the Government of Canada under the Canadian Student Loan Program. The Canadian Student Loan Program provides loans and grants to eligible full and part-time students with demonstrated financial need with the exception of students who are residents of Quebec, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. These provinces and territories have their own student financial assistance programs.

Application forms are available through your provincial or territorial student financial assistance office. After you have completed and signed all the necessary documents, these can be forwarded to your provincial or territorial student financial assistance office.

If you need any forms signed (ie, enrolment verification, programme information forms, etc) please contact the financial aid administrator in UCD International.

Other sources of funding - Many of the larger banks in Canada offer lines of credit to study outside of Canada. Please ask your bank if they have an educational line of credit. UCD International can provide documentation of student status to a bank in Canada upon request from the student.
