The Study Abroad Programme in the UCD Colleges of Arts and Human Sciences was established in 1986. Study Abroad students attend the same modules and sit the same examinations as Irish students to ensure full cultural integration and maximum educational benefit for all students. Students are welcome to apply for a semester or for the full academic year.
Facilities
The College offers a welcoming and supportive environment to our study abroad students. The College within the humanities, advances knowledge and the fostering of learning, through its creativity, innovation and excellence in research and its contribution to the development of the individual and the wider social and cultural life of global Ireland.
Subject Choices
Students may take up to 30 ECTS credits (6 modules/classes) per semester and are able to select modules from across multiple disciplines within the Arts.
Archaeology, Art History, Celtic Civilization, Classics, Creative Writing, Drama Studies, Early Irish, Economics, English Literature, Environmental Studies, Film Studies, French, Geography, German, Greek, History, Information Studies, International Relations, Irish Language, Irish Folklore, Irish Studies, Italian, Latin, Linguistics, Mathematical Studies, Music, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Social Policy, Sociology, Spanish, Statistics, Urban Studies, Welsh and Women's Studies.
Students may also choose up to two electives from outside the Arts Study Abroad Programme. For example, their electives may be a module offered by the Science or Business Study Abroad Programmes.
Please note that, in all of the above, choice is subject to timetable constraints and available spaces.

Study Abroad students generally follow modules at Stage 2.Assessment
Formal examinations are taken at the end of each semester in December and May. International students are expected to undertake examinations in accordance with University regulations. Project and class-based work form a substantial component of the assessment process.
Credit Transfer
It is the responsibility of applicants to agree with their home universities any arrangements for credit transfer. At the end of the semester, UCD sends an official transcript to the home institution.
Eligibility
The minimum GPA requirement is 3.00. In addition to completing the UCD on-line application process, a standard form of identification i.e. copy of passport, a transcript of academic record to date and letter of recommendation from an academic referee should be sent to Sarah Holt, Arts Study Abroad Programme Manager before the application deadline:
