Facilities

The new Innovation Corridor in the UCD Quinn School of Business comprises a suite of modern facilities to provide students with a range of diverse learning experiences outside the traditional classroom environment.

The Deloitte Data Analytics Lab is equipped with Bloomberg terminals, the tool of choice for business and finance professionals. As well as being the leading platform for all forms of financial research and trading, this comprehensive resource provides experience, training and insight into the world of business decisions based on formal analysis of large-scale live commercial data. The system is complemented by extensive engagement with Bloomberg professional staff, which contributes to teaching in business analytics, management, finance and accounting.

The Collaborative Workspace is an area with a flexible layout, designed for interactive facilitated group activities such as case discussions and idea generation. The Studios are four media suites surrounding the Collaborative Workspace and providing technology-enabled conference facilities for student groups to hone their presentation skills.

Module Details

At UCD we call courses/classes 'modules'. Details of the modules available within the business major are listed at the following link - Quinn Business Modules 2012-13

Students attending the Quinn School of Business may take between four and six modules per semester. Four of these must be business modules including the required Irish History module.

The majority of modules in the Quinn School of Business are delivered through two hour modules; some also have additional tutorial hours which will be timetabled centrally.

Irish History

In addition to business modules, Study Abroad students are required to take a special module focusing on Irish History and Culture. This module is taught under the same structure as the business modules. Field trips to places of historical interest are an integral component of this module. This module is awarded business credit.

Assessment

Formal examinations are set at the end of each semester in December and May. International students are expected to undertake examinations in accordance with University regulations. Increasingly, project and class-based work forms a substantial component of the assessment process. Exam timetable information is normally available six weeks prior to examinations.

Credit Transfer

At the end of the semester, the UCD Quinn School of Business sends an official transcript to the home institution. The home institution decides on credits to be awarded for modules completed at UCD. We will be pleased to provide full information on our modules to enable institutions to make decisions regarding the transfer of credits.

Eligibility

The minimum GPA requirement is 3.00. In addition to completing the UCD on-line application process, a standard form of identification i.e. copy of Passport, a transcript of academic record to date and letter of recommendation from an academic referee should be sent to the UCD Quinn School Study Abroad Programme Office before the application deadline.
