The establishment, within the auspices of the Geary Institute (formerly the Institute for the Study of Social Change), of the Irish Social Science Data Archive (ISSDA), fills a long recognised need in Ireland. ISSDA holds an ever-increasing quantity of machine-readable data from surveys and official statistics (such as the Census) and makes them readily available to users in the academic, public and commercial sectors.  More

The Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences 2 (QMSS 2) Research Networking Programme provides a focal point for methodological innovation and advancement.  Through annual seminars and summer schools it promotes cutting-edge methods that will be disseminated to the new generation of European researchers. These seminars provide both the vision and the framework for planning the schools designed to train young European researchers in specific methods.  Further details.


 

Eurostat publishes statistics on economic and monetary convergence, trade statistics, business statistics, social and regional statistics, agricultural, environmental and energy statistics.

Eurostat's website offers free access to download its data and electronic publications.


The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) has launched a new internet based data service for the global user community.  It brings UN statistical databases within reach of users through a single entry point - http://data.un.org.  Users can now search and download a variety of statistical resources of the UN system.
