Chief Technology Officer   

The Chief Technology Officer is responsible for University-wide IT Services including Academic and Administrative Systems, Research IT, Teaching and Learning  Technologies and UCD Web Services. Mr. Phillip Fischer has been appointed Chief Technology Officer of UCD from July 2017.

Prior to joining UCD Phillip held the position of CIO & PMO Europe at Aramark, a $15b managed services organisation headquartered in Philadelphia and operating in over 22 countries globally. In his 12 years with Aramark he worked with the Enterprise and European business entities to develop long term ICT strategies and effective ICT services models and played a key part in driving the region forward.

This required him to lead complex change programmes covering ERP systems, operational systems and infrastructure implementations to drive efficiencies and position the organisation for growth.  For his track record of delivering organisational change programmes he was recognised with Aramark’s most prestigious ‘Set Goals. Act. Win’ award.

Prior to joining Aramark, he ran an IT services business in Germany in the early 90’s returning to Ireland in 1996.  On his return he joined the Musgrave Group where he held a number of positions with the primary aim of delivering business intelligence solutions across the enterprise and project managing the integration of new acquisitions.

Phillip is a frequent speaker at CIO networking events, speaking on the topic of ‘Driving value through ICT’, is a member of Ibec's Digital Economy Policy Committee and completed the Henley MBA in 2009 specialising in ICT Shared Services.

Phillip is looking forward to bringing his skills and experience to the Third Level Sector and working in partnership with UCD’s management team, faculties, staff and students delivering on the 2020 IT Strategy.

IT Services Organisation

UCD IT Services consists of three management divisions each the responsibility of a Chief Officer.  The IT administration team is led by Kate Griffin and is responsible for all Financial, HR and administrative services.
